I'd build the FiveFet regenerative receiver from a kit but decided it would be interesting to see what could be done with just one transistor. So I built several circuits and although they all worked I felt that
there were too many compromises so I bit the bullet and decided to use 2 transistors. After building several circuits I felt that the best performance came from a design by G3RJV which was published in Practical
Wireless in I think April 2013. I built the whole thing into an old RS232 Data Switch box (one of my favourite cases).
Anyway you can hear for yourself by clicking on the MP3 link below and remember between the antenna and the headphones (or in this case the computer) there are just two general purpose NPN transistors.
